Church vestments

Paraments that are used in Catholic churches or its liturgy represent a special segment of the cultural heritage for institutions that protect this heritage as well as for the researchers who study this material. These are vulnerable objects, for strong light, dampness, changes in the temperature and various insects can cause irreversible damage to the material. The museum holds a rich textile collection with over 1000 examples, such as habits, casule, copes, dalmatics, stoles, maniples, burses, pallia, veils, birettas, gloves, shoes, mitres, albs, rochets, antependia, altar linens, etc. The oldest example of church vestments in our collection is the coat from Gabrče in the Senožeče parish which was made in the 17th century.
