Postcards

Our museum houses a postcard collection over 1800 strong. With the contemporary communication means this material is becoming obsolete. Postcards used to have an attractive aesthetic effect and an important communication role. On the back side the postage stamps represent a great attraction to many, for they have a philatelic value. Postcards from the end of the 19th century, made in the chromolithographic technique, represent some of the oldest examples in Slovenia. Most postcards in the collection depict pilgrimage churches and locations. We also house pictorial postcards, which represent events and personalities from the Slovene and foreign church space.
