Several authors contributed to this publication: in his article “Relics – The Holy Remains of the Saints”, Father Slavko Krajnc discusses the topic from the theological point of view; in “Reliquaries at the Ursuline Convent in Varaždin”, Ursuline nun Klaudija Đuran describes reliquaries and veneration of the saints at the Ursuline monastery in Varaždin; National Museum of Slovenia curator Darko Knez inventoried and studied the collection, wrote the main article entitled “Relics and Reliquaries in the Slovene Museum of Christianity” and contributed most of the catalogue entries; together with Slovene Museum of Christianity curator Tadej Trnovšek, he also compiled the index; Slovene Museum of Christianity restorer Irena Potočnik wrote an article entitled “Reliquary Collection: Various Aspects of Conservation and Restoration”; art historian Marjetica Simoniti classified the metal reliquaries shaped as monstrances and crosses; and archivist France Baraga translated the authentics. The Slovene Museum of Christianity documentalist Marko Okorn also contributed to the catalogue.

In the catalogue, the reliquaries are divided into groups and within each group they are listed in chronological order according to the time of the origin of the primary reliquary (some items contain earlier, smaller reliquaries). Consequently the reliquaries are listed according to the time of their making, ranging from the 17th century to the modern period, regardless of the age of the relics they contain. Under each entry, a text in small print lists the number of relics in the reliquary, followed by the names of the saints as written on labels on the wrapped relics. The index at the end of the catalogue lists the Slovene names of martyrs and saints together with the numbers of catalogue entries in which they appear. All other information is evident from the introductory text, catalogue units, photographs and drawings.
