Saints Cyril and Methodius - SlovÆnska apostola
opening of the exhibition: 16th May 2013 in Slovene Museum of Christianity
author: Tadej Trnovšek
In 2013, we remember the 1150th anniversary when the brothers Cyril and Methodius worked among Slavic people. Since their work had profoundly resounded among the Slovene people, we at the Slovene Museum of Christianity joined this memorial event. For this purpose, the exhibition entitled "Saints Cyril and Methodius –SlovÆnska apostola" opens on 16th May 2013. The main emphasis of the exhibition will be devoted to honouring these two saints in our midst. Although we do not possess any strong evidence proving the brothers’ work on the territory of the present-day Republic of Slovenia, the Slovene people accepted the apostles as our own. This is backed by numerous associations, names of churches and chapels, artworks and last but not least by given names. On the territories where Slovene people have been subjected to aggressive assimilation by the neighbouring nations in the past centuries the apostles achieved a greater – nation-wide significance. The temporary exhibition will be set to view until 25th August 2013.
