Reliquaries

We also have one of the largest reliquary and relic collections in Slovenia. The collection exceeds 150 reliquaries with approximately 1200 relics. The reliquaries were made between the 17th and 20th century. The largest and oldest group consists of the reliquaries that we received from the Škofja Loka Ursulines and their predecessors the Poor Clares between 1990 and 2004, and the reliquaries that we received from the Ursulines from Mekinje near Kamnik in 2010. In 2008 we presented our collection at the temporary exhibition The Touch of Saints: the Role of Relics in Christianity in Slovenia. In order to mark this occasion we also published a catalogue of the exhibited reliquaries which carried the same name.
