Explore Slovene Museum of Christianity
The nationwide Baroque in Slovenia project received the Best of Local 2026 award at this year’s Best of Local Awards Ceremony at the Alpe‑Adria tourism fair, organised by The Slovenia in cooperation with In Your Pocket City Guide for the very best that Slovenia has to offer.
The large‑scale exhibition project, which included collaboration with the Slovene Museum of Christianity, won in the category Best New Exhibitions & Experiences in Culture.
The lead institutions behind Baroque in Slovenia were the National Gallery of Slovenia, National Museum of Slovenia, the Department of Art History at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, the France Stele Institute of Art History at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU), and the Museum of Architecture and Design – Ljubljana.
The Slovene Museum of Christianity was one of the associated partners. We presented the exhibition Abbot of Stična Jakob Reinprecht as a Patron of Early Baroque Artworks, which revived memories of the dynamic artistic life at Stična Abbey in the early 17th century. The exhibition remains open this year in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Abbot Jakob Reinprecht’s death on 13 January 1626.
