Archaeological collection

Most of the archaeological collection revolves around the finds obtained during the archaeological excavations carried out in 2003 in the area of the former lavatorium in the cloister garden. The pottery remains and traces of an object from the older Iron Age were surprising finds. This represents the first documented evidence that the space where the monastery buildings stand was inhabited already during the first millennia before Christ. The collection also includes a Roman fibula, three Roman tombstones and a medieval water pipe.
