Holy images

The collection of holy images is approximately 6000 units strong. Some of the oldest images depict the Stations of the Cross and were created in the woodcut technique at the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th century. The oldest copperplate engraving holy images were made in the 17th century. Especially valuable are the hand painted holy images and the holy images that have (usually on the back) various inscriptions by former owners. As regards the themes they can be divided into depictions of saints, pilgrimage motives and memorial (death, baptism, new mass, etc.) holy images. A selection of out images linked to Mary Help of Christians from Brezje has been previously published.
