ON THE TRACES OF THE IRONWORKS with the Slovene Museum of Christianity

WHEN AND WHERE?

On Saturday, 13th April 2024, at 10 am, we invite you to Zagradec, where we will take a short walk to discover the region's iron history. Meeting point: Cultural Centre Zagradec.

MORE ABOUT THE EVENT:

For many years, the ironworks in Fužina on the Krka river was the only plant of its kind in Lower Carniola. Its activities had a major impact on the population and the development of the town, and its products also reached foreign markets. In the century and a half since its closure, it has almost completely disappeared from our consciousness, even though we still encounter its legacy every day.

The event will take the form of a one-hour walking tour. We will visit the site of the former ironworks and present its visible traces. We will also address the history of the area and the parish, which is inextricably linked to the iron industry.

Led by Simon Vidic

This walk is for everyone who would like to learn more about the past of their own place. It will take place on mostly flat terrain with a few stops. For ease of organisation, registrations are requested by Friday 12th April 2024 at simon.vidic@mks-sticna.si or 041 689 994. In case of rain, the presentation will take place in the hall of the cultural centre.
